These Are My Brothers

(Based on Hebrews 2:10-18)

by Ralph I. Tilley

These are my brothers:
   Being made more and more like me;
Renewed in my very image
   Is their destiny.

These are my brothers:
   Ashamed of them I will not be;
They are children of my Father—
   All one family.

These are my brothers:
   In their midst I declare your name;
Among them I sing your praises,
   Exulting in your fame.

These are my brothers:
   Who went through life afraid to die;
For these the bondage I've broken,
   Destroying the Lie.

These are my brothers:
   Of their humanity I share;
That I merciful and faithful—
   Show to them I care.

These are my brothers:
   To help I am always able;
Because I was tempted as well,
   They need not stumble.
