Above and beyond the din of this world
A voice is heard, I hear its sound.
Turning my soul from all other noises,
I’m anxious to hear what He discloses
It is my Shepherd’s voice.
I have no fear; He never comes to scold.
For His heart is full of mercy
And His wisdom is suited perfectly.
I’ve learned to trust Him implicitly
It is my Shepherd’s voice.
Faithfully He warns of predators,
Which are stalking my every move.
“Abide in Me,” He says so distinctly;
With word and faith He arms me securely
It is my Shepherd’s voice.
Empty of inner strength, I hear Him speak,
Bidding me to a quiet place.
Turning aside I find a meal prepared;
I eat and drink and am refreshed
It is my Shepherd’s voice.
Whenever I’ve strayedever so slightly
I hear His tones, both true and clear.
He bids me return to the narrow path,
To follow Him with unwavering faith
It is my Shepherd’s voice.
On those days when all feels dark and dreadful,
A reassuring echo comes.
Pointing me to unfailing promises,
He fills me with rapturous choruses
It is my Shepherd’s voice.
On that Daynot too far in the distance
Before the Judge of all I’ll stand.
To hear Him pronounce, “Well done, my servant,”
Will be a sound of all sounds most pleasant
It is my Shepherd’s voice.
