Oh, the very love of Christ
In my heart is shed abroad
Filling each void and closet,
Making music to my God.
Oh, Christ’s all-consuming love
Renews me in God’s image
Sanctifying all it fills
As I gaze on His visage.
Oh, amazing love of Christ
I would know in its fullness:
Its depth and breadth, length and height,
Its mercy and forgiveness.
Oh, the selfless love of Christ
Penetrates springs of action
Shaping the innermost self
Until there’s Christlike motion.
Oh, to know more of Christ’s love,
My heart yearns with great passion;
May this be my constant prayer,
Controlling my volition.
