Inner Renewal

by Ralph I Tilley

My prayers are so listless,
    My love is so cold;
My heart feels so empty,
    My vision on hold.

My tears flow too slowly,
    My stomach's too full;
My hands droop so heavy,
    My soul lacks Your pull.

Forgive, O Lord, I pray,
    Failures to be strong;
Make my heart like Yours —
    Free from ev’ry wrong.

O Christ of Calvary,
    Fan anew Your flame.
Burn brightly within me —
    Claim all in Your name.

Spirit of Pentecost,
    Send to me Your Wind;
Fill every yielded part —
    Strengthen as I bend.

Pour Your oil within me,
    Inner man renew;
Your fragrant presence bring —
    Till Christ’s in full view.
