I have just received affirmation
For some small duties I had done;
Gracious words were sincerely spoken
Profuselyone right after one.
The thoughtfulness of every person
With gratitude has been received;
They took the time for commendation,
The load I carried they relieved.
Select words spoken in due season
Comes to the soul like a sweet balm;
In a world that’s full of commotion,
Kind words will produce a great calm.
And, yet, I must not keep all this praise,
Though given with best intention;
For I know Who has ordered my ways
He’s deserving of all attention.
What shall I do when I’m thus honored,
Knowing the credit I can’t take?
Here’s what I will do when men applaud:
To Christ all the kind words I’ll take!
